Biblical Usage
Elimelech was a man of Bethlehemjudah, the husband of Naomi and the father of Mahlon and Chilion. Because of a famine in the land, he went with his family to Moab.
Elimelech died in Moab. His death left Naomi and her two sons there, and his family and property later became part of the redemption proceedings involving Boaz and the unnamed near kinsman.
