Biblical Usage
Ruth was a woman of Moab who married Mahlon, the son of Elimelech and Naomi. After becoming a widow, she remained with Naomi and went with her from Moab to Bethlehem.
Ruth gleaned in the fields of Boaz, who was a kinsman of Naomi’s family. Boaz later married Ruth, and their son Obed became the father of Jesse and grandfather of David. Ruth is also named in the genealogy of Jesus Christ.
