Biblical Usage
Obed was the son of Boaz and Ruth and the grandson of Naomi. He was born in Bethlehem after Boaz married Ruth, and his birth was recognized by the women of the city as a restoration of Naomi’s family.
Obed became the father of Jesse and the grandfather of David. He is therefore included in the genealogical records of David and in the genealogy of Jesus Christ.
