Biblical Usage
Throughout Scripture, house commonly refers to a physical dwelling where people live. The word can also refer to the people belonging to a household or family, rather than to the building itself.
The Bible also uses house for a family lineage or dynasty, such as the house of David, and for places dedicated to worship, such as the house of the LORD. The meaning is determined by the context in which the word occurs.
