Biblical Usage

Hannah was the wife of Elkanah and the mother of Samuel. She was childless before Samuel’s birth and prayed to the LORD at Shiloh, promising to give her son to the LORD if her prayer was answered.

After Samuel was born, Hannah fulfilled her vow and brought him to serve before the LORD at Shiloh. She also spoke a prayer of praise, recorded in 1 Samuel 2, and later had additional sons and daughters.
