Meaning
Reproach is disgrace, shame, criticism, or an expression of blame directed against a person or group.
Biblical Usage
In Scripture, reproach refers to shame, disgrace, dishonor, criticism, or blame. A person may bear reproach because of circumstances, actions, enemies, or association with a particular condition.
The term can also describe reproach brought upon God’s people or removed from them. After Israel was circumcised at Gilgal, the LORD declared that the reproach of Egypt had been rolled away from them.
