Purchase is the act of obtaining something by paying a price or giving something in exchange.
Biblical Usage
The Bible uses purchase for acquiring land, property, goods, and other possessions through payment or exchange. Such transactions could be formally witnessed and recorded.
Purchase is closely related to redemption in biblical law and custom. In Ruth, Boaz publicly declared before the elders and the people that he had bought the property belonging to Elimelech’s family as part of the process involving Naomi and Ruth.
