Biblical Usage

In Scripture, an armourbearer was an attendant who carried the weapons and armour of a person of military rank. Armourbearers accompanied kings, captains, and other warriors and could remain close to their leader during battle.

Jonathan’s armourbearer accompanied him when he attacked the Philistine garrison. David also served as Saul’s armourbearer before later becoming king of Israel.
