Biblical Usage
In Scripture, an ambush is a military tactic in which armed men conceal themselves and wait for an opportunity to attack an enemy unexpectedly.
Joshua used this tactic against Ai. Israelite soldiers were positioned behind the city while Joshua and the main force drew the men of Ai away from the city.
Ambushes are also recorded in other battles in Scripture.
