Biblical Usage
Doeg was an Edomite servant of Saul and the chiefest of Saul’s herdmen. He was present at Nob when David came to Ahimelech the priest and later reported David’s visit to Saul.
Saul commanded Doeg to kill the priests of Nob. Doeg killed Ahimelech and the other priests and also attacked the city of Nob. David later remembered Doeg’s actions in Psalm 52.
