A deliverer is a person who rescues or sets someone free from danger, trouble, oppression, captivity, or another form of distress.
Biblical Usage
In Scripture, a deliverer is a person who rescues others from danger, oppression, enemies, captivity, or distress. Deliverers may be raised up to rescue God’s people from particular circumstances.
The term is also used of God as the one who rescues His people and of human persons through whom deliverance is accomplished. During the period of the judges, particular deliverers were raised up to rescue Israel from oppression.
