Biblical Usage

Nob was a priestly city where the priests served during the reign of Saul. David came to Nob while fleeing from Saul and received provisions and the sword of Goliath from Ahimelech the priest.

Saul later accused Ahimelech and the priests of helping David. At Saul’s command, Doeg the Edomite killed the priests of Nob, and the city was attacked. Scripture later refers to Nob in geographical descriptions.
