I Didn’t Know I Was a Witch: How Melissa Found Jesus and Left the New Age
I Didn’t Know I Was a Witch
How Melissa Found Jesus and Left the New Age
Have you ever felt like you were searching for something, but could never quite find it?
That’s exactly how Melissa felt.
She grew up exploring different belief systems — from Catholic to Mormon to Lutheran — but nothing truly filled the emptiness inside her. As she got older, she began exploring astrology, tarot readings, energy healing, and communicating with “spirit guides.”
At first, it felt exciting and spiritual. She believed she was helping others and even thought she was doing something good.
But something wasn’t right.
When “Spiritual” Turned Dark
Over time, things began to change.
Melissa started experiencing disturbing supernatural encounters — hearing voices, seeing things at night, and feeling attacked spiritually.
What once felt peaceful began to feel overwhelming and dark.
She came to a shocking realization:
“I thought I was doing God’s work, but I was a witch and didn’t even know it.”
The “spirit guides” she trusted were not what they seemed.
A Turning Point
Eventually, Melissa’s life reached a breaking point. She became seriously ill and was hospitalized with pneumonia.
In that moment of fear and desperation, she cried out to Jesus.
She made a decision:
If she survived, she would leave everything behind and follow Him.
And something changed.
She recovered — and kept her promise.
Leaving the Old Life Behind
Melissa began removing everything connected to her past practices:
- Crystals
- Tarot cards
- Spiritual tools
- New Age materials
She turned fully toward Jesus — and for the first time, she experienced real peace.
Not temporary. Not confusing. Not conditional.
Real.
How She Knew Something Was Wrong
One of the clearest signs for Melissa was how her “spirit guide” behaved.
At times it sounded kind and helpful — but then it would suddenly speak with anger, hate, or confusion.
“It would say things that didn’t make sense… even things that were hateful.”
That contradiction revealed something important:
- Truth does not contradict itself
- Light does not produce darkness
- What is from God brings peace, not confusion
The Lies That Trap Us
Melissa discovered that deception often comes through subtle lies:
- “You’re not enough.”
- “You have special spiritual power.”
- “You don’t need God — you are your own guide.”
- “Truth is hidden — you must discover it yourself.”
These ideas may sound appealing, but they lead away from truth.
Instead, she found something simpler — and stronger:
- You are loved
- You are known
- You don’t need hidden knowledge
- You need a relationship with Jesus
What Scripture Says
“Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”
— 2 Corinthians 11:14
Not everything that looks good is from God.
Discernment matters.

Jesus,
I turn away from everything that is not from You.
I ask for Your forgiveness and Your truth.
Lead me, guide me, and fill my life with Your presence.

No matter your past, you are not beyond grace.
You are not alone — and you are not forgotten.
