God's Mercy Is Bigger: A Testimony of Redemption and Forgiveness

God’s Mercy Is Bigger

Let me share something deeply personal with you.

Back in 2017, I came across a video on YouTube that completely changed me. It was an interview with Jim Caviezel, the actor who portrayed Jesus in The Passion of the Christ.

At first, I was just curious about the film. But what he shared went far beyond acting — he spoke about faith, suffering, and the cost of following Jesus.

Then he said something that struck me deeply.

He spoke openly about serious sins, without softening the truth. But at the same time, he made something incredibly clear:

No matter how great our sin is, God’s mercy is greater.

A Moment That Changed Me

He talked about how people often hide their deepest mistakes because they fear judgment. Yet we still open up to friends because we believe they will show us love.

And then came the question that stayed with me:

If a human being can show us mercy, how much more can God?

That moment broke something inside me.

When he spoke about adultery, it felt personal. I remember sitting there, overwhelmed, and I cried for a long time.

At that point in my life, I was living in sin. I knew it wasn’t right, but I felt stuck. Looking back, I truly believe the Holy Spirit used that message to open my eyes.

Encountering God’s Mercy

In that moment of brokenness, I didn’t feel condemned — I felt loved.

It felt like a weight was lifted. Like I was being washed clean.

I began to understand something deeply:

  • God doesn’t want us to stay trapped in sin
  • He calls us back with love, not rejection
  • His mercy is always available

Another truth that stood out:

God does not desire anyone to be lost — He desires all to return to Him.

And that requires a choice.

A New Beginning

After that day, something changed inside me.

I experienced a kind of peace and joy I hadn’t felt in years. Not because everything became perfect — but because I knew I was no longer carrying everything alone.

Even now, years later, I’m sharing this because I don’t want anyone else to stay stuck like I was.

If You Feel Far From God

If you’re struggling with guilt, shame, or feeling distant from God, hear this clearly:

You are not too far gone.

  • You are created with purpose
  • You are deeply loved
  • You are invited back, no matter where you are

We all fall short. But grace is real.

And God is always ready to receive us.
